Notes:
The gearbox is a designed to alter the output speed of your tractors PTO shaft. Its versatile design allows the gearbox to be used as either an increasing ratio or decreasing ratio gearbox to suit your needs.
As a decreasing ratio gearbox it will reduce 1000 rpm PTO shaft speed to 540 rpm allowing the use of equipment designed to operate at 540 rpm.
As an increasing ratio gearbox it will increase 540 rpm PTO shaft speed to 1000 rpm.
The gearbox is assembled with 2 x internal splined sleeves. One 13/8"Z6 the other 13/4"Z20. These splined sleeves allow for direct coupling to your tractors PTO shaft as the input. The gearbox is also supplied with 2 x separate shafts with matching splines. These are easily assembled to give you the required output shaft.
Agricultural PTO Reducer Functions and Benefits
Speed Matching: This is its core function. Many older or smaller implements are designed to run at 540 RPM and operate optimally at 540 RPM. If a farmer has a new large tractor with a 1000 RPM PTO, a reducer can help them safely and efficiently use their existing 540 RPM implements. This prevents damage to the implement from overspeeding.
Torque Multiplication: As speed decreases, torque increases proportionally (assuming higher efficiency). This is very beneficial for implements that require more torque at lower speeds for heavy-duty tasks, such as some types of augers, pit diggers, or heavy mixers.
Fuel Efficiency (for 1000 RPM tractors): For a tractor with a 1000 RPM PTO, using a reducer to drive a 540 RPM implement allows the tractor to run at a lower engine speed while still providing the required 540 RPM power to the implement. This can result in significant fuel savings and reduced wear on the tractor engine.
Extends implement life: By ensuring that implements are running at the expected RPM and torque, reducers avoid unnecessary stress, wear and tear, extending the life of implement components.
Enhances safety: Implements running at excessive speeds can be very dangerous. Reducers ensure that implements are operating within their designed safety parameters, reducing the risk of accidents or equipment failures.
Cost-effective: Instead of buying new implements to match the tractor's 1000 RPM PTO, farmers can save a lot of money by retrofitting existing 540 RPM implements with relatively inexpensive reducers.
Maintains direction of rotation: Unlike simply reducing speed through the tractor transmission, which may reverse the direction of output, most PTO reducers are designed to maintain the original direction of rotation of the PTO shaft.
Rugged construction: Like other agricultural transmissions, PTO reducers are rugged and built to withstand harsh farming conditions, including vibration, shock, and exposure to dust and moisture.
