One of the main uses of the large spacing conveyor chain is water treatment facilities. In a large sewage treatment facility, the sewage passes through several pools, where the solid waste is removed by sedimentation and flotation.
In the sludge tank, use vacuum or V-shaped bucket to remove sand and dirt. In the sedimentation tank, scrape the sludge in the water or on its surface to the outlet, and install a "ladder" (plate) every 3 meters between the two chains. The sewage treatment chain (ACS chain) is used for this process. Remove accumulated dirt with a pump.

Cast iron chains have been used in sewage treatment facilities. In this corrosive environment, chain damage is inevitable. Due to corrosion, the volume of the chain material is reduced and the wear is accelerated. In order to counteract the material loss caused by corrosion, cast iron chains become quite heavy, but the tension required in water treatment applications is not sufficient to justify the use of chains with such high tensile strength.
In the mid-1960s, Japan developed ACS stainless steel chains, especially for water treatment facilities. The stainless steel structure ensures excellent corrosion resistance, thus eliminating the need for overweight cast iron chains. Because of its superior function, ACS chain has been widely recognized.
The chain is also used to transport corrosive objects in ordinary scraper conveyors.
