Leaf springs are a simple spring form commonly used for wheeled vehicles' suspension. A leaf spring is one or more narrow curved thin plates connected to the axle and chassis, which allow the leaf spring to bend vertically in response to the irregularity of the road surface. Horizontal leaf springs are the most commonly used arrangement, extending along the length of the vehicle and installed perpendicular to the wheel axle, but there are also many examples of horizontal leaf springs.
