The 86435-S is an automatically adjustable electric trailer brake assembly that makes it safer to use trailer braking during emergency stops. The electric trailer brake generates wear and slows the trailer by activating the electromagnetic brake drum. When the surge brake operates independently, the electric trailer brake must be connected to the power supply of the towing vehicle and adjusted by the brake control unit or electric brake controller.
Do I need a trailer brake for my trailer?
Any trailer or camping trailer with a total weight of 1500 pounds or more requires braking. Under normal circumstances, the braking ability of the tractor is good; However, this may not be enough to safely prevent the trailer weight from increasing by hundreds to thousands of pounds.
