Advantages of using plastic sprockets
Compared with plastic sprockets of the same size, metal sprockets operate well and have good dimensional stability when temperature and humidity change. But compared with metal materials, plastics have many advantages in cost, design, processing, and performance.
Compared with metal forming, the inherent design freedom of plastic forming ensures more efficient sprocket manufacturing. Plastic can be used to shape internal gears, gear sets, worm gears, and other products, but it is difficult to use metal materials to shape at a reasonable price. Plastic sprockets are more widely used than metal sprockets, so they promote the development of gears to withstand higher loads and transmit greater power. The plastic chain wheel is also essential to meet low-noise operation requirements, requiring high precision, a new chain wheel, and materials with excellent lubrication or flexibility.
Chain wheels made of plastic generally do not need secondary processing, so compared with metal chain wheels made of stamping parts and mechanical parts, the cost is reduced by 50% to 90%. Plastic sprockets are lighter and more inert than stainless steel. They can be used in environments where metal sprockets are prone to corrosion and degradation, such as the control of water meters and chemical equipment.
Compared with metal sprockets, plastic sprockets can deflect and deform to absorb impact load, and can better disperse local load changes caused by shaft deflection and staggered teeth. The inherent lubricating properties of many plastics make them ideal gear materials for printers, toys, and other low-load operating mechanisms (excluding lubricants). In addition to operating in a dry environment, sprockets can also be lubricated with grease or oil.
To meet the diversified needs of customers, we provide chain wheels made of industrial plastics. Compared with traditional metal sprockets, plastic sprockets usually show advantages in performance and durability. The benefits of using plastic sprockets include extended chain life, corrosion resistance, lightweight, and reduced noise. Our plastic sprockets are made of materials approved by the United States for food or drug processing and packaging. Snap rings, lubrication grooves, special notches, and special tooth sizes are also available. Martin can make products from several plastics, including nylon, UHMW, acetal and PTFE ®, Polypropylene.
Chain wheel quality inspection
During each work process and after the final manufacture of the product, all items will be thoroughly inspected and tested to ensure the best product quality on the market.
Precautions for using scraper sprocket
FU scraper conveyor casting chain wheel
The chain wheel shall have proper tightness. Too tight will increase power consumption, and the bearing is easy to wear; The chain wheel is too loose and easy to jump off. The tightness of the sprocket is: it is lifted or pressed from the middle of the sprocket, about 2~3% of the center distance between the two sprockets.
The chain wheel shall be installed on the shaft and shall not swing or skew. In the same drive assembly, the end faces of two sprockets should be in the same plane. When the center distance of the sprocket is less than 0.5m, the deviation can be 1mm; When the center distance of the sprocket is more significant than 0.5m, the deviation can be 2mm. However, friction on the tooth side of the chain is not allowed. If the two wheels are offset too much, it is easy to cause chain fracture and accelerated wear. When replacing the chain, check and adjust the offset.
When the sprocket is seriously worn, replace it with a new one to ensure good engagement. It is not allowed to replace the sprocket with a new one. Otherwise, it will cause poor concentration and accelerate the wear of the new sprockets or chain.
